Welcome to the SALTY DAWG SAILING ASSOCIATION
The Salty Dawg Sailing Association unites experienced ocean sailors with developing cruisers to broaden their blue water horizons through rallies, rendezvous and seminars. Members enjoy camaraderie and friendships when they join our events in the United States and in distant harbors.
All Salty Dawg rallies and events are led by seasoned sailors who volunteer their time and knowledge to help cruisers realize their dreams.
If you would like to join us as a volunteer, we would love to benefit from your passion, personality, and expertise. Click here to volunteer.
Our goal is to provide high quality events with the greatest possible value at the lowest possible entry fee, all made possible by the support of over 60 industry-leading sponsors and dozens of experienced cruisers who volunteer their time.
Salty Dawg burgees are found on vessels around the world. Between 2011 and 2020 the SDSA has put on 30 rallies with 3,800 sailor participating on 1,350 boats. Over 3,200 sailors subscribe to our bi-monthly newsletter, Dawg Tales. Membership in the Association is available to anyone interested in passage making or long distance cruising.

News From Dawgs
COVID-19
COVID-19 is changing many things in our society, including how we are able to run our Salty Dawg events. The information you see on these pages describes how we normally run these activities. Our intention is to hold as many of these events as we can this year, but they will likely have to be structured differently. We believe we will still run the Rally to Maine and the Fall Rally, but the pre-departure and post arrival activities will need some changes. Rendezvous and Seminars will be difficult, but we are thinking of some creative ways to still hold some of those. Please check back to our website often for updates. We hope to have information up very soon. Hank George, President, SDSA May 30, 2020
With the worldwide attention and concerns about coronavirus, all captains should consider safe measures in every port visited. In addition, some countries are limiting or restricting entry. The SDSA highly recommends captains check for country updates at Noonsite.com, other relevant sources, and governmental sources. Due to the ever changing health concerns, we are not providing country or island specific updates. Read updated and detailed information here.

The Salty Dawg Sailing Association is proud of its Crew List Service. It is for both captains looking for crew and crew searching for a boat. We do our best to offer guidance to both captains and crew to try to help both parties meet their needs. The SDSA unites experienced ocean sailors who volunteer their time to participate in our events with cruisers looking to broaden their sailing horizons. The Crew List Service is an important way in which we make that connection happen. Read More
Rendezvous
Salty Dawgs get together all year long to have fun and learn from each other. We call each of these gatherings a “rendezvous.” These are fun events that offer opportunities to rub shoulders with other sailors, share sea stories, plan future cruises and passages, and just deal with boat issues. Each event has an informative and entertaining agenda; some with a noted speaker or panel of speakers; some with entertainment. All memorable! Read More
